Annual Study – “Gun Death in Wisconsin” – Released by Wisconsin Anti-Violence Effort (WAVE) Educational Fund and Violence Policy Center
Guns claimed the lives of 735 Wisconsin residents in 2024 including 507 firearm suicides and 207 firearm homicides according to a new joint report by the Violence Policy Center and the Wisconsin Anti-Violence Effort (WAVE) Educational Fund, the state’s leading gun violence prevention organization.

States with Higher Gun Ownership and Weaker Gun Laws Have Highest Suicide Rates, New Violence Policy Center Study Reveals
States with higher rates of gun ownership and weaker gun violence prevention laws have the highest overall suicide rates in the nation according to a new VPC analysis of 2024 data (the most recent and complete year available) from the CDC. Conversely, states with the lowest suicide rates have lower gun ownership rates and stronger gun violence prevention laws.

More Than 3,350 Non-Self Defense Deaths Involving Concealed Carry Killers Since 2007, Latest Violence Policy Center Research Shows
Concealed handgun permit holders are responsible for at least 3,365 documented deaths not involving self-defense since 2007, according to the VPC’s ongoing “Concealed Carry Killers” project, an online resource that provides examples of non-self defense killings involving private citizens with permits to carry concealed handguns in public.
