Most Common Weapons
Most victims were killed by firearms (91.0 percent or 364 out of 400). Fewer than 10 victims were killed with knives or other sharp instruments.
Victim/Offender Relationship
For homicides in which the victim to offender relationship could be identified, 70.9 percent of victims (124 out of 175) were killed by someone they knew. Fifty-one victims were killed by strangers.
Circumstance
For homicides in which the circumstances could be identified, 76.1 percent (143 out of 188) were not related to the commission of any other felony. Of these, 65.0 percent (93 homicides) involved arguments between the victim and the offender.
