Most victims were killed by firearms (93.6 percent or 409 out of 437). Eleven victims were killed with knives or other sharp instruments (2.5 percent).
Victim/Offender Relationship
For homicides in which the victim to offender relationship could be identified, 90.5 percent of victims (38 out of 42) were killed by someone they knew. Fewer than 10 victims were killed by a stranger.
Circumstance
For homicides in which the circumstances could be identified, 92.4 percent (61 out of 66) were not related to the commission of any other felony. Of these, 54.1 percent (33 homicides) involved arguments between the victim and offender.
