When the National Rifle Association gathers for its annual meeting April 26 – 28 in Indianapolis, IN, the biggest draw for attendees will be the trade show of new guns that is the centerpiece of the event. The NRA brags of the show’s size, promising “15 acres of guns and gear.” But while the NRA celebrates its gun industry “corporate partners” for their financial support of the organization, many of these companies are inextricably linked to the carnage and heartache wrought by the seemingly endless string of mass shootings that define American public life today.
The graphic below (see links below for printable and shareable versions) of the gun show’s floor plan offers a grim walk among the manufacturers of the firearms used in some of the nation’s most notorious mass shooting, including Beretta, Colt’s, Daniel Defense, FN, Glock, Hi-Point, Remington (Bushmaster & DPMS), Sig Sauer, Smith & Wesson, and Sturm, Ruger. The graphic also shows manufacturers who are known financial supporters of the NRA (million-dollar “Golden Ring of Freedom” contributors are identified by the yellow sports coat given to donors).
