Paper Tiger?

Will the Brady Law Work After Instant Check?

Conclusion

The Brady Law has proven to be an important step in helping to reduce gun violence in America, although an incremental one. Because its effect is almost entirely restricted to keeping guns out of the hands of convicted felons, it has little impact on the major causes of firearms death and injury in America. Many loopholes remain in its intended coverage, and uncertainties continue about how well the new system will operate.

For these reasons, the Violence Policy Center believes that more work is required to tighten up the Brady Law and much more comprehensive efforts aimed at the problem of non-crime related firearms violence are urgently needed.
